Elementary Lesson Plans
Thursday, Sep.1/ Friday,Sep.16
Activities, Objectives, Standards
K- Rules, Class Expectations, Overview, Pattern Snake, Students will explore patterns through the use of Crayola markers. Students will fill in the inside of their pre drawn coil snake. We will discuss patterns and reinforce through student led examples. Students are encouraged to think of and create unique patterns A.4.2, C.4.1, C.4.4, C.4.5, E.4.1, H.4.1, H.4.3,
1- Rules, Class Expectations, Overview, Paul Klee Water Color Portrait, Students are exposed to abstract Art and will develop their own water color painting in the style of Paul Klee. Students will trace around a palette to create the shape of the head. They will observe similarities in shapes, like our eyes as footballs and replicate on their picture plane. Students will gain a greater appreciation of water color painting and techniques and at the same time use color in unique ways. A.4.2, C.4.1, C.4.4, C.4.5, H.4.3,
2- Rules, Class Expectations, Overview, Rainbow Line Design, Students will explore Op art and study the effects of proximity as it applies to color and space in addition to the effect that lines have on each other. Students will use the rainbow pattern, draw a line, and repeat throughout until their paper is full. C.4.1, C.4.2, C.4.7, C.4.8, C.4.9, J.4.2
3- Rules, Class Expectations, Overview, Crayon Resist Water Color Portrait, Students will design an abstract portrait with a sharpie marker and fill in with patterns and design. Students will use crayon to fill in their patterns. Students will learn proper water color techniques when painting their portrait. A.4.2, C.4.1, C.4.3, C.4.7, D.4.4, H.4.2
4- Rules, Class Expectations, Overview, 4 Piece Symmetrical Composition, Students will develop a symmetrical composition by transferring a simple abstract non-objective line that will travel from edge to edge of their small ¼ piece paper. Students are encouraged to keep lines simple and minimal, not too many! Lines will create a unique composition after all four rectangles are transferred. Students can use any medium of paint, color pencil, or marker to add color. A.4.2, C.4.1, C.4.9, D.4.5
5- Rules, Class Expectations, Overview, Geometric Word Design, Students will construct a spindle geometric design on a 9x9 piece of drawing paper. Students will draw a bubble letter word on a small triangle that will fit in 1/8 of their final composition. Students will trace their design front to back 8 times. The final composition will look like a unique geometric design. Students will fill in (paint) in neon tempera paint. C.4.1, C.4.5, E.4.1, H.4.3, J.4.2
