Art II
Robert Indiana Composition.  Students will research Robert Indiana and develop their own ‘stamp/brand of an area, state or part of the world that they would like to visit.  Students may develop composition around a theme as well.  Students will research area and add any symbols dates and pertinent data involving their chosen area. We are looking for compositional development along with applying their previous skills learned in mixing tempera paint. Students are reminded to use balance and symmetry in their design as well. A.12.1, C.12.1, C.12.4, H.12.3, J.12.10
8th Grade
Up Close, Students will replicate a Chuck Close portrait from desired silhouette.  Students will develop colorful shapes within small composition squares similar to Close’s silkscreen portraits.  We are looking for full intensity of color pencil when finished.  A.8.3, B.8.4, C.8.1L.8.2, I.8.5, J.8.7J.8.10
 
G.D.I
Bodoni.  Students will study the body of modern Bodoni MT.  Students will choose a three letter word and develop characters that follow the shape of each letter.  The characters will support the word but must follow the Bodoni shape.   Students will become familiar with the font, and its unique characteristics.  Work to be finished in Ink. A.12.2, B.12.1, E.12.1.
 
Art 6th Grade
The never ending line.  Students will either choose from existing line design or reshape and develop personal composition through the use of a sharpie marker.  Students will add simple shapes or develop own theme and design with which they will add Crayola marker to bring out contrast between black, white and color. A.8.4, D.8.5, G.8.2

Art II
Eric Carle Inspired Tissue Collage. Students will research children’s book author and artist Eric Carle. Students can either choose a current to character to recreate or develop their own.  Students will paint tempera colors onto tissue paper.  When paper is dry, students will cut and glue to create their collage. B.12.1, C.12.7, E.12.3, H.12.3 J.12.10 L.12.6
 
8th Grade
Stencil
Students will search for portrait stencils to use in creating multiple prints.  We will look exclusively at Andy Warhol’s pop art samples and discuss the ‘art’ in repeating pattern and design.  Students will construct an original piece of pop art using their stencil.  We will talk about the many ways to take an object or idea out of context and learn how to exploit the information for arts sake.    H.8.3, I.8.5, J.8.7.5, J.8.7,J.8.10
 
G.D.I
Serif Action Verb Design.  Students will study the body of a modern or traditional serif font.  Students will choose an action verb of no less than 7 letters.  Students will then make their word complete the action that the verb suggests.  If they were to choose laughing, the letters in laughing would have to carry the action.  C.12.1, C.12.2, C.12.4, C.12.6
 
Art 7th Grade
Drawing with line (Op Art).  Students will explore op art.A.8.4, D.8.5, G.8.2
